Clemson University North Green - Class of 1960
Sherman Construction provided Clemson University with construction services for the Class of 1960; North Green Project, located on the campus of Clemson University.
North Green is the class project to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Class of 1960. Designed "Transitions Steps" will share a story of change in the history of Clemson University, featuring granite steps with engraved text that narrates significant transitions: Military to Civilian, Male to CoEd, Segregated to Desegregated and College to University.
The project included selective demolition and fine grading to the existing grounds, landscaping and sidewalks between the existing Carillon Gardens, the Outdoor Amphitheatre, Martin Hall and Brackett Hall. The completion of the project, on a short timeline and against a firm "hand-over" deadline, was executed with a complete team approach by all project team members. Extensive tiered landscaping, brickwork and large engraved granite stones create a wonderful space for all to enjoy. The work was completed in a single phase.
Due to the site being located in the middle of campus and enclosed by structures all around, extensive erosion control procedures and traffic control were incorporated into the day to day operations on this project. Additional measures were taken to ensure compliance with the Clemson University Tree Protection Plan and to Control Dust from adjacent structures.
